This report contains important information regarding the water quality in our water system. 50% of our water is purchased from the Des Moines Water Works. The source of that water is surface water. The surface water is drawn from the Raccoon River, the Des Moines River, and the Maffitt Reservoir. 50% of our water is groundwater. Our groundwater is drawn from the pleistocene aquifer. This report has two parts. The first is information about the water that we provide you, our customers based on the samples we take in Polk City. The second part contains data provided by the Des Moines Water Works about the water that they provide to us.

  • Snow Ordinance
    The Polk City Snow Ordinance is in effect from November 1 through April 1.  Any person parking on any public street which impedes snow removal is subject to a summons.
